Mar. 29th, 2002 02:52 amWoke up today, finally, after not getting enough sleep. I was up all night, soothing my insomnia with a book. Very early in the morning, the Public Works department started laying new asphalt in my neighborhood, so it was trucks and yelling workmen for like ten hours. I think I slept sometime between 11AM and 5 or 6 PM, when decent people are at work (or so I'm told).
Woke up to my mother talking on the phone with one of her brothers, listened to the whole conversation by accident rather than choice due to some things she did that woke me up. Then she finished that conversation and went to repeat the whole thing with her sister, which resulted in me shouting "Nooooo! you left a light on! you're loud! go somewhere I can't heeeear you!" - but I couldn't get back to sleep. The discussion was about a meeting that was had today in my grandmother's room in the nursing home, about whether to declare her incompetent, whether to start hospice care for her, whether or not (if the other two things are done) someone should sign a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) Order for her. Etc. I personally feel that a DNR should be signed... she's 76, she has no quality of life, she weighs 74 lbs, she's not lucid, etc. I do not feel that heroic measures should be taken... if she dies, what the hell are they going to resurrect her for? But nobody else agrees with me (and I have certainly not aired this opinion). So.
After that... watched some TV, ate some Edy's Dreamery Tiramisu icecream (which is amazingly good), started watching the movies I rented last night.
( about AI, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, and a book called The Love Hexagon. skip this at your peril! )
