Mar. 12th, 2002 03:16 pmI got a ton of sleep last night. Whee! Weird dreams, but just getting some rest and not being tired made up for it.
Yesterday I went to school, and it turned out that we were locked out of our classroom. It was sunny and around 70 degrees, though, and only 4 out of the 6 students showed up for class (it's an honors seminar where we do a ton of reading and then sit around discussing it), so we had class outside in the gazebo. The old gazebo was a small standard thing with a few benches around the edges, where people would make out between classes, but the newer gazebo is huge, a patio rather than an enclosed structure, more of a picnic area, with a bunch of tables and more than enough room to hold a decent-sized class. It was nice, a little windy. There are no classes on Wednesday, and I think only 2 more classes between now and spring break. So I'm feeling pretty free.
After class I sat around the house for a while while the momster was at physical therapy, and then we went out, ostensibly for me to study at the bookstore. We stopped at Lenscrafters because she needed to order her contact lenses, and I made an appointment for an exam (which is Thursday) and looked at frames, which I've narrowed down to three pairs, one of which is identical to hers. (But if anyone remembers the overpriced Gucci frames I almost bought last year, they're also very similar. She happened to choose frames by Anne Klein a few months ago that were nearly identical to the ones I already wanted. I don't think I should change my mind just because my mom wanted to be twinsies! Basically, my choice will be between the purple ones she has, which are blue on the inside, and a pair of black ones in the same shape that are clear on the inside, or a pair of Armani wire frames that are less emo-looking.)
After that we decided we were hungry, so stopped at the Olive Garden. By the time we finished there her arm was hurting so much that I became the designated driver and my study plans were cancelled. We did stop at the craft store so she could get an acrylic paint sampler; I got a spring green micron pen and a neat compass thingie. I was going to stop at the drugstore and buy her a sling but she agreed to ask for one at physical therapy today, along with real painkillers, because Tylenol and ibuprofen are not cutting it. She may end up in a cast, I don't know. I just wish she'd stop using the arm so much until it heals up. Getting herself to the point that it hurts so much that she wants to cry and throw up from the pain is, IMO, BAD.
