I should be in bed, and will get there soon...
I didn't mean to sit online, and then sat for hours, talking to one friend and then another. Especially bummed for friend who lost the only cat he's ever really really loved (not his fault, the cat was living elsewhere). Listen, people, it's very important to keep your indoor cats INDOORS. they get confused. they don't know what to do when they're outside and they stand a good chance of getting hurt/killed as a result. there are always old outdoor cats who live forever and a day (and who are thrown in my face as anecdotal evidence that Outdoor Cats Live Long Happy Lives), but the vast majority of cats who live at least partially outdoors have an average life expectancy of four years. and that is an unnatural shame when they can live to be 20 if they are properly cared-for.

I cleaned tonight.
Getting the fur-dust off the big wire shelf tower in the bathroom (fur-dust because it was thick and starting to look like a pelt). Changing floor mats for a clean one. Putting things where they go is lovely. I just wish I had more places to put things. Or that I had fewer things (but I have an alarming tendency to like the things I have...) Did a lot of laundry. Progress, progress. It comes so slowly. & I can't believe I felt compelled to clean, with the fever and various girly-problems I've been suffering today.

to eat cereal and take silly quizzes and post fluff, of course.

before I do so, I must yap about something shallow I saw the other day. (fashion bs alert! run away! run away!) A girl of about fifteen wearing about a size 2 pants, at the movies with her mom. Carrying a Coach Bag! And not even a classic tasteful one... this was some weird pink and white linen and leather hybrid, looking somewhat worse for wear. The mom had a Coach bag too. Who in their right mind outside of one of three areas of the country (which would be Palm Beach, Manhattan, and parts of L.A.) buys their fifteen year old daughter a hideously ugly $200 purse? When I was that age, which admittedly was ten years ago, the vogue for trendy vanilla girls of fifteenish was a Liz Claiborne or Esprit bag. Small. I remember when I got into high school I carried some sort of black quilted leather pseudo-Chanel thing - not any more tasteful than the overpriced pink thing our heroine was toting, but certainly not as expensive either. Then I had a boxy red faux-reptile pseudo-Kelly-bag when I was a senior, which I loved, and lamented when the clasp broke. If you're going to spend too much money on a purse for your kid, go for Fendi or Kate Spade or something that at least looks like it wants to be pink and fluffy. Coach is for restrained classic leather purses you plan to have until you're 200 years old. Hmmm...ph. (better yet, pick up a cute purse on clearance and put the money away for college. sheesh.)

get yer silly quizzes right here. smiths anthem and twilight zone. )

This journal is so irredeemably dull when I don't feel well; how do you stand it?

Anyway, all I've done all day today is sleep and sit around the house. Soon I will add feeding cats and cooking food (for me) and thinking about what I've been writing to that other stuff. I suppose I should go check the mail, too, since I am expecting delivery of a small animal from Oklahoma (um, [livejournal.com profile] kevininatutu bought me a little llama a while ago! it should be cute!)

Before I cut to the daily quiz ration, I will stop to recommend (at least the first few pages of) a novel I was reading the other night in the store and would like to finish. It's called Lamb & it's by Christopher Moore and devout Xians should probably avoid it. Very funny, though: told by the Apostle Biff, about his friend Josh (Jesus). I didn't think the parts of it that I read were "disrespectful", but my mother the still marginally religious read the flaps and said "the whole premise is offensive". Regardless, it made me chortle for 30 minutes straight, so.

sister, i'm a poet. and a star trek character. and a killing machine. )
