It has been an unfortunate few days in verbminxworld, for several reasons.

In a general sense, my &%*$#! neighbors (who we don't like very much) planted a bush on the property line yesterday, and managed to cut BOTH of our phone lines in the process (which is to say, my house's voice and data lines - not any of their own damn phone lines, unfortunately). Naughty neighbors. The phone company said it wouldn't be fixed until tomorrow night, but they were able to get a guy out here today, so... as you can see... it's fixed.

The other thing is that I pulled a muscle in my &%*$#! leg Monday morning, while I was doing some organizing around the house. I didn't really realize it was pulled until yesterday; before that I thought it was just, uh, tired or something. The rest of my body has followed suit, so now I have a full-on killer head/neck/back-ache. I went to the chiropractor today, I have to go back Monday, my head hurts, waaaah. I wrapped my leg in an Ace bandage and have been trying to stay off of it as much as I could.

Today, after my chiropractic appointment, I went to the bookstore and exchanged some books I had picked up for school and don't need, in favor of Pride and Prejudice and Emma (since I haven't read either in a while and all my other copies are too old, bother my allergies, etc)... and a decent amount of money. Then I went to the new-agey store where I bought that rejected xmas necklace for my mother, and exchanged it... too late to get $ back, unfortunately. I got a pretty moonstone bracelet and a poster for my mom.

Now I'm making split pea soup, a large stock pot of it, more soup than you can shake a carrot at. I wasn't hungry when I started it about 80 minutes ago, but the smell is making me ravenous. I saved some of the turkey ham for the Island Black Bean soup that I'm going to make next.
I am so whiny today.
(if your reply to that is "What's new?" then you must have some inkling that my reply will be along the lines of an expletive direction consisting of a four-letter anglo-saxon word beginning with f, followed by the predicate "you." Got it? hee.)

I have horrible, dreadful, awful cramps. Not really. Just mildly unpleasant & stressing a tendency to overdramatize them, because any cramps are horrible dreadful and awful boohoo.

My pea soup did not end up being too tasty. I should have put in the entire turkey ham. I only used half of it, about the size of the palm of my hand, so the soup doesn't taste "smoky" enough. It just tastes like peas, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, herbs. Which is OK, but not as good as when it has the smoky taste. Oh well, I guess you have to experiment to know what not to do....

I edited my last entry. It is now slightly more accurate.

I flipped my hair when I dried it after my shower, an hour or so ago, but I'm not going anywhere. I'm a tired girlie with perfectly turned-up ends. That Tart.

I really want... tiramisu, right now. Cakey goodness. With moussecremestuff. But since Nathalie didn't want to go have cake with me (cos she is on a diet and I probably should be), and since that's probably correct thinking, I am just going to have a cup of tea.

I'm reading Persuasion, which I have not read in the past. I didn't watch the movie because I thought it was dull. So I'm coming to it relatively fresh; unusual for one of her books. yes, I'm on an Austen kick. I'm enjoying it so far, but they have only just elected to let Kellynch Hall to Admiral and Mrs Croft. & the ending is transparent.

I read the Blue Monday: Absolute Beginners book yesterday... the first half (which I'd already read) is good but the second half is kind of a letdown. I didn't like the whole thing about the girl with Mr Bishop (SO CLICHÉ), and the pooka just irritated and offended me (got in the way of the real story). I'm trying to leave out major spoilers, so I'll stop there. It's still Blue Monday, so it's still good, but not as good as the first book. I also finally got the Aeon Flux book and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Nightwood, and fortunately some of my secondhand books sold, so it's becoming rather like a library with overpriced shipping.
