Mar. 4th, 2001 01:35 pmYesterday was a whole lot of nothing exciting...
We decided to go to Orlando to do some shopping. On the way, we stopped for lunch at Steak 'N Shake, without realizing it was cash-only. I ended up being left as collateral for 15-20 minutes while my mother went to find an ATM and get cash. I swivelled around on my barstool and smiled and slurped at my chocolate milkshake as staffers made jokes about me doing dishes. But soon enough my ransom was paid and we were on our way.
Upon getting to Orlando, we went to the big mall and bought a lot of uninteresting things. I mean, decorated Sniff tissues and a new wallet (sort of a peacock pattern with more room for cards than my current wallet, which is a red glitter-vinyl "sexy kitty" wallet) at Rampage, a couple of pair of summery pajama pants for me and a whole mess of junk for my mom at Old Navy, toner and moisturizer from Sephora. A couple of pairs of socks (Bubbles Powerpuff slipper socks, no less). I did get a new Urban Decay lipstick at Sephora, a lovely velvety red called "Jezebel". I needed tshirts for summer (Express, JCrew, Banana Republic, whatever) but I wasn't really up to trying any on, so that will have to wait.
Went to Borders and sat around looking at books for a couple of hours. Ended up finally finding a NYC guidebook that was reasonable (the Avant Guide, if anyone cares - it's sort of an Obnoxious Hipster guide). Looked at doggie books, college books, travel books. We're probably settling on the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, if anyone cares.
Because they didn't have what I was looking for, we also went to the Virgin Megastore in Downtown Disney, where I finally got ahold of Ghost World. I used to read Eightball back around the time of Like A Velvet Glove Cast In Iron but that was quite a few years back. I also found two Maison Ikkoku manga volumes on clearance for $3 each, and picked up the latest issue of Animerica.
Came home and slogged around for a while before falling asleep. I had strange dreams (ones where I was 24 but attending high school classes and getting frustrated with the other students, something that doesn't take a genius to interpret), and woke up a few times, after 4 and 6 hours of sleep, refusing to get up. I finally did get up around 12:15, and here I am, after wheat-free blueberry waffles and a cup of jasmine tea.
So, that's what I've been up to. Isn't it exciting?
