"is that what you needed to run in here for? to be online?"
"no, mother: if you must know, i needed to change my [feminine protection]."

-recent conversation between my mother and me.
(obviously, one of us is keeping tabs too closely on the other.)

Tonight was pretty low-key. Went down to the big theater to see Charlie's Angels. It was cute and fun, no great cinema but a few amusing hours passed. I think Drew Barrymore had surgery when she was in rehab to have her tongue permanently stuck in her cheek.

Before the movie, shopped around a little and had a very nice dinner, chicken and garlic mashed potatos and lovely grilled vegetables and a chocolate mousse cake with raspberry sauce for dessert. While shopping, I bought a studded belt and a few pair of earrings...

There is a story there. I got my ears pierced about two and a half years ago. There had been many piercings in the same spot, with numerous half-healed exit holes but only one entrance hole, so it was hard to put a pair of earrings in. I've been wearing the same captive bead hoops since they were pierced, but the other night I was playing with them, and popped out a bead. Now, the bead is reinsertable, but not by me, on me. So tonight I bought a couple of pairs of earrings. I couldn't find the exact kind I wanted (a nice decorative stud in some interesting shape), but I did get a few that will do for now. Truthfully, I don't really like earrings very much. Jewelry isn't something I'm into.

Speaking of jewelry, I tried to put my QuanYin charm, which is about an inch long and somewhat heavy, onto my thick silver ring chain tonight - and the chain fastener was too big to go through the loop of the charm. I ended up putting the charm on my delicate ballchain and putting the charm I usually wear on the ballchain onto the silver ring chain.

this is all very trivial. forgive me.
Woke up a few hours ago, after not-enough sleep...

oh, well, I guess it's OK, I should get up early for class tomorrow.

I'm waiting for the shower to be free so I can get ready to go return a few things out by the maul, then do some laundry later. Whee.

& talking to ragdoll, which is always good. She sent me the following funny link, courtesy of David Bowie (yes, that David Bowie - she hangs out on Bowienet a lot, it's the featured site of the week there):

BUSH-ISMS

I didn't finish all of them, but a third of the way through the list I was shaking my head and cringeing. Hasn't anyone noticed that just about all the "great" presidents of this century were Democrats?

oh, had a political conversation with my mom. she loathes Bill&Hill with a passion, but (though she used to be a fundie and still occasionally has leanings in that direction) doesn't like how the xian right has hijacked the republican party. she thinks i pick on bush too much, when i've just voiced my reservations on him (oil companies and xian coalition own him, least qualified man to run for president in recent memory, dui, etc). but she says she will probably vote for nader, solely because gore was clinton's veep. *sigh* it didn't help that i pointed out that polls indicate that if clinton ran today against the major candidates he would win. and i never particularly liked him, but i don't think he has been a bad president. in this case, the personal is not political. har.

let's face it kids, i am still confused.
