Today (yesterday, now) was better... I got to sleep in, and since I took my temp in front of her, my mom seems to now realise that I am sick and is being almost over-solicitous. She got up early and did some housecleaning today, which made her happy, and then when I woke up she made me tea and kept trying to cook things for me. We went to pick up some supplies I need for a school project and then went to dinner. While we were picking up the supplies I needed at the mall, we stopped at the pet store to look at puppies (don't worry, we most likely are not getting a pet store puppy, we just wanted to meet these little guys). We played with an Italian Greyhound, a toy Fox Terrier, and a Lhasa Apso. The Iggie was very cute, and very hyper... at one point he projected himself off of my lap and landed flat on his back, and whimpered a little; we were worried that he was hurt, and I picked him up and held him, and he snuggled close. I petted him and reassured him, and in a minute he was himself again. The Toy Fox Terrier was really cute, but too hyper, and with too little personality beyond his hyperness (which I know was partially excitement at meeting new people). Overall we preferred the Lhasa Apso; however, he seemed to be sick. My mom wants to see a Cocker Spaniel they have there who isn't allowed out yet because she hasn't been seen by a vet, so we will probably go back in a few days... I don't know why, because I don't think we are getting a dog from pet store. I want a rescued animal. Our rescued cat is the best-behaved of the three, and the girl who placed him said that we could get just about any breed of dog we wanted within a week if we gave her a call (she was impressed with how well we take care of our cats and how much freedom they have in the house).

When we got home, I put my Felicity tape in and watched tonight's episode, and then watched the History of Britain that The History Channel has been showing... apparently they have decided that they have now been around long enough to have rerun every moment of WW2, so they are branching out (haha). At any rate, it is written and narrated by Simon Schama, who is both informative and entertaining, and it uses some visuals which I have never seen before (& I am something of a British history buff). So I am enjoying watching it every night before I go to sleep.

I got The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman the other night, but I am not reading it yet - I have been reading ManifestA by Jennifer Baumgardner and Amy Richards (well, skimming. I should read it from front to back). It's interesting; they critique a lot and present a lot of viewpoints of feminism or attemps to create female-friendly institutions of various points and where they succeed or fail. It is worth checking out.
