sorry for your doggie. i lost my doggie... well, of adolescence, as we got him when i was going into high school, and he died 2.5 years after i finished high school. & i was very sad, and my first kitty, who i got when i started 8th grade, followed him 2 months later. :(
the arm scratches are unfortunate, but i have counted them part of my daily life. =/ N-cat is just kinda skittish and flails around when he's upset. B-cat is very friendly and doesn't usually scratch. D-cat is 20 lbs and I don't usually pick him up, but sometimes he lashes out at my ankles or feet if I walk by without paying attention to him! :-D
