Oooh! I have to learn to crochet just so I can send that to my Japanophile, hipper-than-thou brother-in-law in Seattle so he can be embarrassed by his dowdy academic Midwestern relatives even more than he already is!

Of course, it will probably backfire and he'll consider it so tacky it's hip.

If you make it in cotton or linen it WILL be hip.
That's why you'd just have to make it out of acrylic! ;)

I actually read the pattern more closely, and actually, the entire dark part is knitted and the "fillings" are just embroidery on the top. So actually it's very little crochet and what's there is simple... I might just be able to teach myself to make it.

I was thinking that one makes two or three toilet paper rolls and stacks them, and then one puts the rest in the closet or under the sink or something.

I looked more closely at the instructions and the dark part is knitted. it's basically just a white crochet disc with a knitted tube attached! then the "fillings" are added later.

I think if I did it I would combine finer black and green yarns for the nori part, and I would want to crochet them. Although I don't know how to crochet at all. I could redo the whole pattern as a knitting pattern, but I don't think the "rice" part would look as good knitted; it would have increase or decrease lines in it.

if you can knit, you can crochet. i find crocheting so much easier than knitting. easier on the hands too.

the sushi rolls look pretty straightforward: all single crochet with increases, then single crochet in rounds. StitchGuide.com (www.stitchguide.com) has good picture tutorials of stitches.

I think my copy is incomplete. it jumps from the courtroom scene where bruce stands up to an explosion and bruce and liam neeson sliding down the mountain.
it was a thing that made me go "huh?".
did things happen between there? later on at the end bruce says to .... katie holmes (whatever her useless character's name was) something about when he was standing there with that gun, which I don't remember seeing. so I'm assuming that was in the part I missed.
enlighten me?
