home schweet home

I don't have much time to type (hair appointment in an hour and I'm still reclining in bed with Little Boy, the laptop - as Fat Man, my computer, is having monitor problems), so just a short entry for now.

I got home last night. Everything is fine. My mother warned me that she had Messed With My Stuff, but from what I can see she didn't mess with it much. She liked her presents (a cool canvas bag, a My Melody mini-plush, and some stickers) and the cats fought over the "Japanese Catnip" sticks I brought back for them.

There was all kinds of drama with getting my return ticket, and the airline charged my mother $100 over the price they had quoted me to allow her to pay for it with a card over the phone, claiming I had to pay cash for it in person, which they hadn't told me when I'd set the reservation. Like I'm going to carry $250 in cash around with me at the end of a trip.

So, when they announced at the airport that my direct JFK->Orlando flight (arriving home at 6:30 PM) was overbooked, I was torn. I really wanted to get home, and they were rerouting people through Boston (where two planes had just collided on the runway) with an arrival in Orlando after midnight, with a $300 voucher. I dithered, then they raised the voucher to $400 and offered a free first-class upgrade, flying with a stopover in Cincinnatti (which is a nice little airport), and arriving in Orlando before 9:30PM. I took it. It got me home a bit later, but at least we got some value out of the $350 it cost to change my ticket. First class is great, too... I'd never flown that way before. I think it has made me even more of a princess. EVERY seat on an airplane should be a first-class seat!

My stomach has been upset since Monday night, just after Ragdoll and I had dinner. Blah.

There is more to tell (such as going to the Met, hanging out with Ragdoll, and so on), but it will have to wait til later. My hair appointment waits for no-one!
