Help! digital cable question?

Hey -
if anyone has done the switch over to digital cable (from regular cable), could you please tell me what the switchover entailed?

We're having it done in the morning, and for some reason the customer service person left my mom with the impression that only the cable box needed to be changed. It would seem to me, logically, that they'd need to run in new wires... but maybe not.

So, when you switched over, did they just put in a new cable box, or did they have to do some new wiring?

It uses the same wire. After just plugging in the new box, they run a bunch of computery tests with it and if everything checks out, that's all they need to do. In one of our rooms, I guess our setup didn't pass the test so they had to install one of those Radio Shack signal-amplifiers up in our attic, where the main cable comes in.
