that's actually one full SIDE of the halter - the rest of it will be a mirror image. what you see now goes from center back (at the cast on) to center front (where my needles are right now). the only seam is in the back center, which will be what is currently the "right end" (the shorter, garter-stitched bit). I might alter the strap a little so that it buttons rather than ties. i think the pull on my neck from it tying will probably annoy me. i'm knitting it on #7 needles because they knit perfectly to pattern gauge and are the recommended needle size for this yarn. the pattern calls for a different yarn (that was harder to get and more expensive - i think it's trendsetter balboa), and knits on sz 9 needles. but so far it's working fine with the smaller yarn and needles... as long as the gauge is the same number of stitches per inch, and it is, no problem. i love the feel of this yarn, soft and springy.
i also love the plassard versatile. gah. it's a french yarn and i cannot yet find an american shop that sells it. i really wish i had bought more, and made a sweater with it, but i wasn't confident enough to do so when i bought it. (which is why i have all these 3-to-4 ball yarn stashes - i was in NYC as a brand-new knitter and all I knew how to make was scarves, so that's what I bought yarn for while on my spending spree. i bitterly wish i'd jumped in and tried a sweater earlier on! but purling intimidated me until really recently...) anyway, i feel like i should sell the Versatile scarf when I finish it, but i think i probably love it too much to part with it. le sigh.
