I've had an uneventful last few days. Mostly packing, hanging around the house, that sort of thing. A pleasant haze punctuated with brief bursts of hard labor. Similar excitement planned for the near future. The highlights of my day were Getting The Dog To Stay and Spilling Tomato Down The Front Of My New Shirt (necessitating emergency stain-removal action).
I spent part of today clearing off the 212mb drive of a computer I got in 1994 and stopped using much after about 4 years. (I might make some of the contents of the hard drive available online sometime once Fat Man is all fixed up. Still no word on the health of my poor computer. We've been calling every day.)
It is VERY VERY slow to transfer 200mb off the hard disk of a 486 running at 33mhz to a zip drive with a parallel cable. I can't believe... I could have done this years ago, and I didn't. But there are some cool old VGA shareware games on there... Oilcap, Hero's Heart, Sherlock, etc.
The new pills seem to be helping so far.
Did anyone watch the first episode of Tipping the Velvet tonight? I don't really like the adaptation itself so far, but as far as I remember the book it seems to be fairly true to its source material in terms of events.
I got a pedicure the other afternoon: massagy chair and all. My favorite summer toe color, OPI's Big Apple Red. My nails weren't in good enough condition for a manicure, so I promised myself that I'd be good with the lotion and cuticle cream and Nail Envy this week so I can get a manicure in a week or two. I also splurged on the new issue of Nest, which has all these large reprints from Godey's. This month's Nylon is kind of boring, but most magazines' "music issue"s usually are. & the new Zine Guide, which... hm. (My Friends Are In It, but I know that a lot of people also dislike it. I've never actually USED it for anything because I get all my zines anymore from either bookstores or from people I know on Pander.)
I think it is sleeptime for me.
